1. Review All Documents Ahead of Time
A few days before closing, your lender and title company will send you a Closing Disclosure, which outlines your final loan terms, monthly payments, and closing costs. Take time to:
- Read everything carefully
- Ask questions about anything unclear
- Confirm wire instructions to avoid scams
This is your chance to catch errors or confirm last-minute details—don’t wait until you’re at the table.
2. Complete a Final Walk-Through of the Home
Usually done 24–48 hours before closing, the final walk-through is your opportunity to:
- Make sure repairs were completed (if requested)
- Check that appliances and systems still work
- Confirm the home is clean and in the agreed-upon condition
If anything looks off, now’s the time to flag it—not after you’ve signed the papers.
3. Bring the Essentials to the Closing Table
Don’t show up empty-handed. Be sure to bring:
A government-issued photo ID Certified funds or proof of wire transfer for your down payment and closing costs Any additional documents your lender or title agent requestedOnce you sign, the home is officially yours—and yes, you’ll walk away with the keys in hand!
